Convening for Indigenous health and NAIS journals

On December 2-4 2026, we will host a three-day convening for editors of Indigenous health and NAIS journals.

About the Convening

Journals play a critical role in shaping the direction, scope, and narration of Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Health for many scholars, intellectuals, and community members. This convening will provide a space to share ideas and experiences about how journals have inherited and continue to reimagine their practices to best meet the needs of communities and their fields.

During the convening, editors will have the opportunity to participate in programming that may include workshops, presentations, and discussions on the challenges and future trajectories in Native American and Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Health. Journal editors will be asked to present on the practices they have already developed as well as innovations they hope to further engage with to support the trajectories of their field. Center CIRCL will host editors (or designees) of up to five Indigenous health and NAIS journals.

You can find more information about the call for participation below. The deadline for applications is July 22, 2026.

We invite you to share this widely with your networks.
